Birkhead Custody
Larry Birkhead still doesn’t have his baby and it’s because he and Virgie Arthur couldn’t agree on who should care for Anna Nicole Smith’s daughter if anything happens to him. That was the sticking point between Birkhead and Arthur. At the custody hearing, Smith’s mother delayed resolution of the matter until at least next Friday, when the next hearing is planned. Birkhead and Arthur will reportedly meet in Nassau, the Bahamas, to try to work out an agreement. Birkhead left the courthouse a little dejected after the hearing. A gag order kept him from saying what happened in court, but a source close to him revealed the delay.”Larry’s not happy that Virgie wants guardianship if something happens to him,” said the source. Birkhead, who has a tight-knit family, feels they should be next in line to raise the infant if he dies. “He plans to take the child back to the U.S. when he gets custody,” the source said. Howard K. Stern, who was listed on the birth certificate as the baby’s father and has cared for her since birth, said Birkhead “is doing a great job” at becoming a dad.”Larry spent the majority of the last few days over at the house getting to know Dannielynn, changing her diapers, feeding her,” said Stern. Arthur’s lawyer, John O’Quinn, said he is hopeful she and Birkhead can come to terms.”She’s happy for Birkhead and she’s happy for the child. She’d be a lot happier if she could also be involved,” he said.
