Authorities set up barricades at Los Angeles International Airport as if the arrival of the soccer star and the Spice Girl was a red carpet premiere. The couple held hands as they walked out of a terminal shortly after arriving aboard a British Airways flight from London. The English midfielder, who helped Real Madrid win the Spanish title last month, will play for the Los Angeles Galaxy of Major League Soccer.An estimated 5,000 soccer enthusiasts, and new Beckham fans, sat in the stands as “Becks” was introduced and he held up his new No. 23 jersey. He will make his debut with the Galaxy in an exhibition match against a familiar opponent, Chelsea FC of the English Premier League, on July 21 in Carson, California. Beckham will make around $32.5 million over five years with the Galaxy and millions more in endorsement deals. Saying he wanted to help soccer grow in the United States, Beckham said, “I’m going to be part of that for the next five years and maybe a few years beyond that.” The Beckhams will make their new home in a reported $22 million, 13,000-square foot villa in Beverly Hills, where neighbors include their friends Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes. Beckham has said his focus would be on the soccer pitch and not on Hollywood glitz and their home in Beverly Hills.

After more than six weeks in rehab, Lindsay Lohan finally left Promises rehab facility and headed straight to Las Vegas nightclub Pure to attend the surprise birthday of her assistant. Lohan had extended her stay at rehab facility Promises in Malibu, California, after a series of drug and alcohol-related misdemeanors. She entered rehab for the second time this year following her arrest for DUI (driving under the influence) following a May car crash in Beverly Hills. She had planned to stage her recent 21st birthday celebrations at Pure but opted instead to host a small party for family and friends at a Malibu, California beach house. She made amends with Pure bosses when she made an unannounced appearance and danced the night away, sipping only energy drink Red Bull. Lohan lived it up with a group of ten or so pals. Members of the Pussycat Dolls and illusionist Criss Angel joined Lohan in the club’s VIP DJ booth, where they partied from 1 to 4 a.m. Lohan completed a 45-day stay at the swank drug and alcohol rehab center and will now begin an intensive outpatient program with the facility. To keep her on the straight and narrow, Lohan’s opted to wear an alcohol monitoring ankle bracelet.”She chose to do so that there’s no question of her sobriety when she goes to places where alcohol is served,” said her publicist Leslie Sloane.

Sting and his wife, Trudie Styler, were ordered to pay their former chef $51,000 in compensation after she won a sexual-discrimination claim against them. Jane Martin won her claim in May. She said she was fired after she became pregnant. An employment tribunal ordered Sting and Styler, to pay their former chef compensation after she won her claim against them. At a hearing earlier this year, Martin said she had worked for the couple for eight years, cooking meals for them and guests. She said Styler grew unhappy with her after she became pregnant in 2005, making her work long hours and growing angry when she took time off work because of illness. Martin, who accused Styler of having a “grandiose ego,” left her job under disputed circumstances in April 2006. The panel at the employment tribunal said in its May ruling that Martin had been unlawfully dismissed by Lake House Estate, Sting and Styler’s management company, and was a victim of sexual discrimination. Sting and Styler said they had already launched an appeal.

Lindsay Lohan quietly turned herself in to face charges of driving under the influence in connection with the Memorial Day weekend hit-and-run crash that sent her into rehab.”She was accompanied by her attorney as she surrendered at the Beverly Hills Police Department to be fingerprinted and photographed,” Officer Brian Ballieweg said. Lohan was held in custody for about an hour until she was released on $30,000 bail. Sources close to the case say that this was simply a routine process, as often times people arrested for driving under the influence are simply cited and released.”Lohan’s blood-alcohol level at the time of the crash was above Californias 0.08 percent legal limit,” Ballieweg said “She is also faces a misdemeanor charge of hit and run,” he said. “Lohan and two other adults were in her 2005 Mercedes convertible when she lost control and crashed into a curb and shrubs on Sunset Boulevard on May 26,” police said. “Lohan got into a second car and was driven to a hospital in Century City for minor injuries,” police said. The others in her car were not hurt. Police received a 911 call about the accident and traced Lohan to the hospital. Lohan was released on her own recognizance. She is scheduled to be back in court on August 24.

Lindsay Lohan’s next film role was reportedly canceled after producers raised concerns about her post-rehab partying. Lohan was released from Promises rehab center in Malibu, California on July 13 and was spotted partying with pals in Las Vegas just days later. When Lohan checked into rehab in June, producers on the crime caper movie ‘Poor Things’ agreed to delay filming until she had completed treatment. Lohan’s arrest on suspicion of DUI happened just a few days before she was set to start shooting the film. The production company was fine with waiting for Lohans recovery, even saying that Lindsay would be shuttled back and forth from Promises in Malibu to the set in Santa Monica. Lohan’s rep, Leslie Sloane Zelnik, would not discuss the project, saying only that Lindsay was “not the reason” for the film’s problems.

Tom Sizemore says an attack on former girlfriend Heidi Fleiss never happened and he is trying to overturn his 2003 misdemeanor corporal injury conviction for the assault. At a hearing in Los Angeles Superior Court, plastic surgeon, Dr. Michael Cardenas, testified that he didn’t see bruises on the face of Sizemore’s former girlfriend and former Hollywood madame Heidi Fleiss, days after she claimed he punched her in the jaw at a Beverly Hills hotel.”There was no sign of any trauma, bruising or anything like that?” Fay Arfa, Sizemore’s attorney, asked Dr.Cardenas.”I did not notice anything like that,” said Cardenas, who said he had a conversation with Sizemore and Fleiss around 2 a.m. April 13, 2003, about five days after the assault. Cardenas said he was called to treat Sizemore for a cut and was introduced to Fleiss. The three had a brief conversation after he was done treating Sizemore, he said.”You saw their interaction together and it seemed like they were getting along?” Arfa asked him. “Yes,” Cardenas said. Deputy District Attorney Robert Cha said metabolism or treatment might have reduced Fleiss’ swollen face by the time the doctor saw her. He also suggested Fleiss might have used “cover-up items” to conceal the injuries. Sizemore is currently serving a 16-month prison term for violating probation in a Los Angeles methamphetamine case and faces another six years behind bars if convicted on other drug-related charges. He did not attend the hearing.

A source claims, “There are still some bits and pieces floating about of Pete with Kate. She has got rid of most of it. Six out of eight tapes have been destroyed. But she wanted to bury the lot before he could humiliate her by selling them or putting them on the internet. Pete could do what he wants with them.” Referring to the video clips previously posted online, the source adds, “If they made that public, just think what could be on the tapes they held back.”
